It’s About Time – Six Keys for the Organized Music Educator

About this Webinar –

Is there a more crucial topic for the music educator than time management and organization? Panelists Liz Betts, Chris Auchly, Jennifer Sager, and Brad Smelzer present a TON of practical tips and ideas to beat the time monster and stay organized. You could make the case that THIS one may be the most important one yet!

About the Panel –

Chris Auchly is a retired music educator following a 29-year career as a band director. He spent the last 20 years of his career at Festus HS, having previously taught in the Tipton and Lee’s Summit school districts.

Brad Smelser currently works as the director of bands in the Crystal City 47 School District in Crystal City, MO where he teaches 6th grade through high school band, Introduction to Guitar and Music Technology. In addition, he serves in many other capacities within the district.

Jennifer Sager currently serves as Director of Bands for the Carthage School District where she and her staff teach the vertical program together.  She also directs the longest running marching band festival in Missouri, The Maple Leaf Marching Festival.

Elizabeth Betts as this webinar was recorded is making the move from Director of Bands for the Maysville School District to Director of bands in the Fayette R-III school district.  She also presents in the NPD Webinar Survival 101 – Teaching Music in the K-12 School.


To gain the most benefit, please follow these suggested steps:

Step One – Download the Note Page

Prepare to either type your notes into the Word.doc or Google Doc and save the changes, or write in your notes by hand into a printed copy.

Step Two –

As you view the webinar, we encourage you to take notes as you go along.  Feel free to stop the recording and rewind as needed.

Step Three – Download the Action Plan Template

Choose either format; Word Doc or Google Doc.  After considering the key points that you wish to implement, describe the point in the ACTION BOX select a date for the initial implementation.  Then, select a date that you plan to review and assess the success of the implementation.  

Step Four – 

An 80% score or better will result in a Certificate of Completion emailed to the address you provide.  Those scoring less than 80% will be allowed to retake the quiz.  In order to do so, you’ll need to register in the quiz with an alternate email.
