Known as a top St. Louis trumpet player for decades. In the past few years he has branched out as a band leader, composer, and clinician. Jim has been featured as a guest soloist with many school bands across the country. Every year Jim headlines at Jazz at the Bistro to sell out crowds, as well as various jazz festivals around the greater St Louis area. He was a featured soloist at the annual Trumpet Party in Amsterdam in 2006. Jim’s group Horns in the House” was the opening act for the legendary Maynard Ferguson. His approach to brass playing has gained world-wide attention via his many students and now several YouTube clips. Dustin is a highly-in-demand trumpet player and music educator in the St. Louis area. Dustin is currently the Director of Bands at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in the St. Louis Public Schools District. He is also the Adjunct Professor of Trumpet/Jazz Studies at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO. He’s also a first-call-level pro jazz player, currently playing lead trumpet in the Dave Weckl STL Big Band Contingient. Dustin holds Bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Trumpet Performance from the University of Missouri – St. Louis, and a Master of Arts in Music from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
